AtkinsRéalis Partners with Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park to Develop Hong Kong's Lok Ma Chau Innovation Hub

AtkinsRéalis has recently been appointed by Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited (HSITPL) as the chief design consultant, responsible for the design consultancy services for the main infrastructure and public facilities of the first phase development of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park (Hong Kong Science Park at He Tao). This project aims to promote innovation and technology collaboration between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and to support Hong Kong's establishment as an international innovation and technology hub.

Vision and Goals of the Hong Kong Science Park at He Tao

The Hong Kong Science Park at He Tao is located in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Technology and Innovation Cooperation Zone. As an important flagship development project, the park not only focuses on infrastructure development but also aims to create a comprehensive innovation ecosystem that facilitates collaboration among research institutions, enterprises, and talent. The project will emphasize transforming into an interconnected and vibrant park, with the central tree-lined avenue and surrounding public spaces becoming key elements in shaping the park's character.

AtkinsRéalis's Professional Contributions

AtkinsRéalis will coordinate the cross-disciplinary project delivery under this contract and collaborate with Leigh & Orange and Zaha Hadid Architects to create a core axis throughout the park, linking different parts and forming attractive public spaces. Leveraging its extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure and urban development projects, the company will integrate multi-disciplinary expertise through a unified service model to provide solutions that go beyond basic technical requirements.

The project will also incorporate smart city facilities, digital infrastructure, and a Building Information Modeling (BIM)-based delivery model, combined with sustainable development measures to align with broader environmental goals. AtkinsRéalis will review and optimize the project's sustainability elements to help achieve the vision of net-zero emissions.
