China Mobile Hong Kong Launches First U6GHz Network in the Region, Strengthening 6G Development Foundation

China Mobile Hong Kong Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as "China Mobile Hong Kong") announced on October 17, 2026, the successful establishment of the first U6GHz network in the region, completing network testing and verification at its flagship store in Mong Kok. This marks an important step in the exploration of the Upper 6GHz frequency band for mobile networks, laying a solid foundation for Hong Kong's future 6G development.

Proactive Spectrum Deployment to Power 6G Future

The U6GHz, or Upper 6GHz frequency band, can provide continuous large bandwidth, becoming an important spectrum resource to support 5G-A and the future evolution of 6G. According to the plan, Hong Kong will complete the auction of the 6/7GHz spectrum on November 29, 2024, becoming the first region globally to auction this frequency band for public mobile services. China Mobile Hong Kong has acquired 100MHz of contiguous spectrum and is moderately advancing its deployment to enhance network capability verification and terminal adaptation, accumulating experience for future 6G commercialization.

Expanding Network Capacity for Smoother Smart Applications

The newly added U6GHz spectrum can be used in conjunction with existing frequency bands, achieving download speeds of over 3Gbps through spectrum aggregation technology. This will enhance data transmission capacity, accommodate more users connecting simultaneously, improve internet experience in busy areas, and support high-definition video and large data transfers.

As artificial intelligence technology gradually integrates into production and daily life, the demand for data transmission from devices such as smart glasses and AI robots continues to increase. China Mobile Hong Kong will promote the collaborative development of U6GHz with intelligent computing services, enhancing the connectivity between terminals and intelligent computing platforms, exploring AI image analysis, immersive interaction, and industrial applications, allowing smart services to better integrate into daily life and business operations.

Aligning National and Hong Kong Plans to Strengthen Digital Development Foundation

China Mobile Hong Kong will actively align with the national "14th Five-Year Plan" and Hong Kong's first five-year plan, focusing on "Artificial Intelligence +", computing infrastructure, and new industrialization.
