Hong Kong Science Park Delegation Visits Xi'an to Strengthen Innovation Cooperation

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) visited Xi'an on August 27, 2026, and co-hosted the "Xi'an R&D · Hong Kong Empowerment · Global Application" - 2026 Qin-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Collaborative Development Exchange Conference with Xi'an Jiaotong University. The aim is to promote cooperation opportunities between Shaanxi and Hong Kong in areas such as technology transfer, financing, talent exchange, and expanding overseas markets.

Technological Strength and Cooperation Potential in Xi'an

As a technological hub in western China, Xi'an possesses strong research capabilities. Earlier this January, HKSTP held the "Qin-Hong Kong Technology Innovation and Capital Cooperation Summit" at Hong Kong Science Park to facilitate precise connections between Shaanxi's hard technology and Hong Kong's financial capital, successfully attracting several Shaanxi enterprises to the Science Park. Additionally, Mr. Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, visited Xi'an in June this year to explore cooperation potential in cutting-edge fields such as commercial aerospace, artificial intelligence, new energy, and new materials.

Exchange Activities to Deepen Innovation and Technology Cooperation

The delegation organized by HKSTP included not only members of HKSTP but also representatives from the Invest Hong Kong, the Office for Attracting Key Enterprises, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and the Hong Kong Productivity Council, aiming to further deepen collaboration in innovation and technology between the two regions.

During the event, Mr. Chan Chi-chung, a member of the Board of Directors of HKSTP, stated: "Xi'an not only has a long history but also boasts leading research capabilities. HKSTP will continue to leverage Hong Kong's unique advantages in internationalization to build a sustainable cooperation platform, deepening collaboration around frontier industries, helping outstanding enterprises in Shaanxi to 'go global,' while also bringing in top global innovation resources."

The event featured several thematic sharing sessions that comprehensively introduced Hong Kong's unique advantages as an international financial, trade, and innovation hub. At the roundtable forum, speakers from Shaanxi enterprises and representatives from the Hong Kong Advanced Institute of Xi'an Jiaotong University discussed how Shaanxi's hard technology achievements can leverage Hong Kong's international platform, capital connections, and professional service advantages to achieve global applications from Xi'an R&D.

During their time in Xi'an, the delegation also visited local innovation-driven platforms and several innovation and technology enterprises to understand the latest research and development status in the area, and engaged in in-depth discussions on collaboration in technology transfer, startups, talent cultivation, and financing between the two regions.
