The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) officially launched its 25th anniversary celebrations on August 31, 2026, with the theme "Innovation and New Beginnings," bringing together innovation and technology partners, industry leaders, and representatives from startups to witness HKSTP's achievements over the past 25 years.

Celebration Activities and Theme

This celebration is not only a reflection on the past but also an opportunity to look towards the future. Ms. Sunny Chai, Chairperson of HKSTP, stated that the corporation has consistently promoted innovation and technology as a vital engine for Hong Kong's economic development, and is committed to translating research outcomes into tangible social impact.

During the event, HKSTP announced the release of a research report titled "Inside Asia's Fast-Track to Global Tech Scale," produced in collaboration with global leading technology market intelligence firm CB Insights. The report indicates that Hong Kong ranks first in Asia and fifth globally in the Mosaic score with a score of 370, reflecting the development potential and investment attractiveness of innovative enterprises in Hong Kong.

Future Vision and Development Strategy

Looking ahead, HKSTP has proposed the vision of "What’s Next," based on four key dimensions: establishing a diverse talent ecosystem, deepening the integration of technology and industry, expanding the global innovation landscape, and bridging the gap between the future of innovation and the present. CEO Simon Wong emphasized that Hong Kong's role as a "super connector" is more important than ever, and HKSTP will continue to strengthen its ties with the mainland Chinese market to assist innovative enterprises in exploring international markets.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, HKSTP will launch the "25 to NEXT" series of events from 2026 to 2027, covering three major themes: The Next Habitat, The Next Horizon, and The Next Pinnacle, aimed at promoting the development of the innovation ecosystem and cross-market collaboration.

Key Report Highlights

  • Mainland China leads the development of physical artificial intelligence, with related financing continuing to grow.
  • Asia's specialized innovation hubs each play their role, driving rapid development of the innovation cycle.
  • Asia is competing for global R&D leadership, solidifying manufacturing and consumption advantages.

HKSTP will continue to coordinate the global innovation ecosystem, promoting Hong Kong as a core hub for leading global innovation development, and striving to attract international talent to build a more forward-looking innovation community.
